keeping it sweet.

One of the coolest, latest, gotta-have-it trends for weddings seems to be the candy buffet. And I can see why: yummy candy, fun displays, and a wedding favor almost everyone will love.

When we first began wedding brainstorming, a candy buffet was one of the first things to be put on the “Must Have” list. My mom and I began looking at candy buffet ideas online to get some ideas of displays, candies, etc. Here’s a couple of my favorites:

I love the colors and the display on this one – the different sizes & heights + the retro flair makes this buffet so pretty. Makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop. I especially love the labels on the jars.

This one I love because of the fun display. It has a completely different look/feel than the one before which was so bright & playful. This one manages to take candy and make it look sophisticated, but still fun. My absolute favorites are the rock candies and the swirly pops.

My candy bar will be all it’s own, though. Unlike the clear glass containers & apothacary jars that most people seem to use, we’re using beautiful white vintage milk glass. I think in the setting of the Bellamy, the brilliant white + vintage look of milk glass will really shine. We’ve spent the  past months searching eBay and local antique shops for the perfect pieces.

We’ve also been shopping for purple & green candies to stock our candy buffet with. We’ve found some pretty good deals so far in surprising places including:

  • Hershey’s chocolate hearts wrapped in purple wrappers
  • Green peanut M&Ms
  • Grape Mike & Ikes
  • Green & white swirl pops (I was so excited about these! I really wanted swirl pops.)
  • Purple M&M premiums (on super clearance at Walgreens!)
  • Caramel chocolates in purple wrappers
  • Purple & green licorice sticks
  • Licorice pastels
  • Flower & butterfly small lollipops.

Let’s just say my freezer is stocked with some yummy candies. We’re also going to be making homemade fudge and purple swirl covered pretzels. Now we’ve just got to figure out where we’ll be putting everything. I’m really excited about doing the mock-up of this when the time comes.

The candy buffet idea is so awesome! I’d actually never heard of it before now…if only because we’re planning our wedding at Graceland at the chapel near Elvis’s mansion and hadn’t really looked at wedding “trends and fashion” anywhere else! LOVE it, though! 🙂 Can’t wait to see it in person…sounds like it will be beautiful + yummy!
